Development Watch: 80 Dekalb Avenue

Given that demolition was completed some time back in July, it's not going out on a limb to say that things aren't exactly flying along at Forest City Ratner's 36-story, 369-unit project at the corner of Dekalb and Rockwell Place. (To be fair, there was a hiatus at the end of the summer.) Whenever we've passed by recently, though, there's been plenty of activity so perhaps things will pick up as we move into the concrete superstructure stage.

I'm not a big fan of Ratner or Atlantic Yards but I am excited about this building.

Why don't they get rid of that ugly black bldg shown background in the corner of Dekalb/Flatbush where the Applebee and the subway station is. Ratner should destroy and develop that and another one across instead.

Yeah, that and the hideous monolith kitty-corner on a block of Flatbush that houses the Chase bank. They're both 70s brutalism monstrosities.
Mr. B -- any info on who's in those places? I think one houses Verizon...

What inventory shortage?

I am glad that 5:13 did not capitalize "brutalism," because then s/he would be incorrect.
