Streetlevel: A.P.C. Expanding to Billyburg

33-grand-street-apc-williamsburg.jpg
As Racked reported just before New Year's, A.P.C, that beacon of French stylishness, is setting up an outpost in Williamsburg. The new store at 33 Grand Street won't mimic the company's Greene Street location too closely—it'll be an outlet for "customized vintage military pieces, discounted items from past seasons, and...the line's signature denim products," according to Men.Style.Com. Racked was predicting a January 11th opening but when we drove by yesterday it didn't look close to ready.

They might want to take a little time and steam clean the facade.

Does anyone know the story with the multilevel extension that's been built behind this facade? Looks like multiple apartments, with tremendous views.

it's gritty. oh wait, it's just grody.

Its a rooftop addition, two stories set back from one another. AFAIK, its for single family (but you could check that on DOB).

That building is gorgeous -- outside, and in. I've been to several events there, and all that ironwork, the beams, the brick, everything is preserved. The exterior facade looks perfect just as it is -- PLEASE don't steam clean anything!

Welcome to the Grand Street Miracle Mile, APC!

steam clean?

Are you kidding?

It wouldnt match the unwashed hair, intentionally messy clothes and b.o. of the trust fund 20 somethings who will be shopping there.

Steam clean...huh.

Trust fund 20 somethings?

Are you kidding?

That's so 1996. Those kids are all in bushwick, and they wouldn't be seen dead in APC, which is strictly for the professional climber (p.r. chick, stylist, stock broker, MTV producer) -- you know, the Williamsburg of today.

I know this because, alas, I date it on occasion. (even a trust fund 20 something like me needs to fk once in a while, and my anemic peers just dont do it for me.)

Thanks for getting me up to date.

So the " Williamsburg of today" are "p.r. chick, stylist, stock broker, MTV producer" s?

Even more heinous than the Bushwick kids you displaced. At least they have delusions of being artists.

New York is losing its soul because of people like you.

And what color is your soulful parachute, 6:50?

I'm honored that you feel so strongly about "us".

"And what color is your soulful parachute, 6:50?"

Whatever color the "p.r. chick, stylist, stock broker, MTV producer" are NOT wearing.

"Whatever color the "p.r. chick, stylist, stock broker, MTV producer" are NOT wearing.'

Ooh, how edgy and contrarian! Truly you are the very essence of this great metropolis.

That was supposed to be my house. ;-(

Are we ever going to get over this shit???!!!! It’s ridiculous. I'm going to make a mass assumption here and venture a guess that most of you are not from here which means you've displaced someone, somewhere in this or any other neighborhood in new york. All these businesses, all these condos, all these bars are here because of us. Yes, even me a born and bred ny'er.

It’s boring and lame. Trustfunders, hipsters, frat dudes, blah blah blah.

What? You don't think there exists a hipster trustfunder that was in a frat or his female equivalent.

Please. NY is awesome and will continue to be awesome until all of you who move here can do whatever awesome thing it is that you do in your own city. Until then we'll all keep moving around displacing people and getting displaced.

Have fun
