Development Watch: Hager Wasting No Time at 421 Kent

Just two blocks north of the 475 Kent mass eviction, developer Issac Hager has wasted little time getting to work on his latest project which takes up the entire block of South 8th Street between Kent and Wythe Avenues in South Williamsburg. Just a month ago we reported that the man who has just recently broken ground on another high-profile project—the Flatbush Flatiron—had paid $42.5 million for the site, where it's unclear whether he's planning on building a 7- or 20-story building. In the past couple of weeks, much of the former parking lot has been torn up and, judging from all those port-o-potties (on the jump) they're expecting quite a crew of workers.

Hager may be fast-tracking his development of the site, but some variation of this project has been kickin' around since before Schaefer Landing.

Really? According to documents on ACRIS, the developer is limited to 7 stories or 75 feet. That agreement was signed on 12/28/07.

Then what's the right lot number? Both lot 1 and lot 35 (block 2135) are limited to 75 feet. Is it lot 100 where the high-rise development will take place?

Actually, according to the descriptions in the documents on ACRIS, the entire lot bounded by Wythe/Kent/S 8th/S 11th is limited to 75 feet.

i live directly across the street from this and, unfortunately, can assure you that they have been making a ruckus for about three weeks now. permits on the DOB website say six stories of condos, but curiously also say a mere twelve units. those would be mighty. big. units.
