Development Watch: 122 Vanderbilt, Slowly but Surely

Construction at the Bricolage-designed project at 122 Vanderbilt Avenue in Fort Greene hasn't exactly flown along since we checked in back in August. The 15-unit building doesn't look too bad from this angle (prefer the Darth Vader vibe to the usual Radusky fare) but it's a little more painful from the side view from Myrtle Avenue (on the jump) both in terms of aesthetics and context. Don't suppose anyone knows anything about whether this will be rentals or condos?

Looks pretty good compared to the old sidings nearby. They do this plenty n Europe. If one notices, Vanderbilt is crumbly. It's a welcome development, except for the still standing Exxon station that charges much higher gas prices.

Yes the side view is incredibly bland, but it's being built with the realization that the adjacent building could be replaced by one of equal height. Why fix up the side of an attached building if it's going to end up covered eventually anyway?

North of Myrtle is NOT Ft Greene.
Unless you are a broker.

My dope dealer lives on that block.
Wonder what he thinks of the new spot.
More yuppies to sell weed to I guess.

Actually, no, 2:10. That block is now zoned R5B, so the maximum height of any new building next door is limited to 33 feet. In fact, with that height limit, it is unlikely that the building next door will be replaced (except in the case of fire, etc.)
