325 Gold Street: Cashing in on Oro Part Deux

325-Gold-Street-1207.jpg
Have the owners of the commercial loft building at 325 Gold Street decided to cash in on the retail boom underway in Downtown Brooklyn? Nope. According to a tenant in the building, the new plate glass windows are getting installed to make way for the sales center and model apartment for the Son of Oro project directly across the street which, incidentally, is still just a hole in the ground.

I hope the owner does not cave to developers by selling this concrete cast building for a hi-rise. But fix the clock, for chrissake, I like working clocks, and hold on to this landmark.

I believe that 325 is owned by the developer of the Oro towers.

I live in this neighborhood. Right now we have nothing. There was once a pizza joint (Tasty's), bar (brooklyn cafe), a large grocery store, a liquor store, a chinese food spot, a mexican food spot, and a place to do your laundry. All of those things have been knocked down for condos. It would have been nice if they put something a little more useful in this building.

word. it's downtown brooklyn day on brownstoner, son. sales center right now, but who knows what's coming next.

thanks for covering this spot, i've been curious ever since they started work on replacing those windows several weeks ago.

12:21. I agree with you. I live in the neighborhood as well and we really need some people to open some stores around here. A grocery and Dry cleaners would be a good start. I hope that my building gets some good retail on the ground floor.

PUT A DAMN SUPERMARKET IN THAT SELLS BEER ALREADY JESUS CHRIST

Posted by: guest at January 3, 2008 3:08 PM

It's the sales office for 150 Myrtle. The building is not owned the Oro developers.

how about a sales office that sells beer (to anyone (21+))?

Man, I'm bummed. I've been walking past that corner for weeks hoping it was going to be a Duane Reade or grocery store (and yes, with a six pack or two available for purchase). Sales office? Eff that.

I was in the building recently. Instead of Son of Oro, it will be a luxury Hilton that will be built there. The developers got a deal that was too good to turn down.

Not sure what is going to go in that spot, but I doubt that they are installing models of hotel rooms.

Also- rumor has it that Whole Foods will be moving into one of the nearby building to accommodate for the new tenants.
