110 Livingston Rental Ads Go Underground

110-livingston-not-pressure-01-2008.JPG
We’re not sure how many units Two Trees is looking to rent at its pricey condo conversion 110 Livingston (according to a Curbed report a few months ago, it’s only six) but the firm has gone on an ad blitz at the Borough Hall train station. Some of the ads read, “Not Pressure You But With Rentals Like These, You’d Better Bring Your Checkbook.” Anyone have more info on the "not pressure" apartments? How about a copy editor referral for Two Trees?

Shouldn't it read:

"Not TO Pressure you..."

terrible copywriting.

I feel bad for the owners, 'cause the renters are gonna trash the joint.

How could Two Trees agree to display these ads. It is just an embarrassment.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 10:16 AM

Wow, that's really bad. I can't believe they'd let a typo like that slip through...

Given the sales pitch of proximity to Wall Street, wouldn't Bowling Green, Broadway-Nassau and Wall Street be more logical subway stations than Borough Hall???

lol 2trees

6 renters are going to 'trash' the entire building?

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 10:34 AM

Wonder why they are keeping 5-6 units for rent. If they sold the restt of the building they could easily unload those units. Wonder if it has something to do with control of the Board issues. I know a lot of condo plans are written where the developer/sponsor gets to keep x number of seats on the Board and certain other powers so long as they still own a certain amount of units. I wonder if that is the case here.

I'm wondering how difficult would it have been to proof read that? I mean.... It's the first friggin' sentence! Or maybe they were more focused on clip art and getting the phone number right.

Good Grief!

Just found this quote in the Post:

The average price per square foot in Brooklyn Heights is $630 a foot, while in Park Slope it is $640 a square foot, and in Fort Greene it is $414 a square foot, according to the Corcoran Group's fourth-quarter market report.

Obviously, this ad is targeting foreign buyers that do not speak English good.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:06 AM

don't think too many foreigners want to rent apartments here...

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:17 AM

The ad was supposed to say:

"110 Livingston: It has full basement but it needs to renovate and it exits to the sweet lovingly garden."

But that text was already taken, so they settled for the next best thing.

11:17

You bet foreigners would want to rent here- corporate apartments, family vacation apartments, NYC party apartments. Brooklyn is hot now and this place is close to the city.

No, I'm not a broker...

; )

Now that the housing market is tanking and "House of the Day" is a painful review of overpriced dreck, why not just start a new feature: "Grammar-Challenged Listing of the Day"?

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:29 AM

hottest broker of the day??

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:33 AM

There must be far more than 5-6 rental units or they would not spend money on an ad campaign, no?

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:39 AM

looks like they couldn't have spent TOO much money on it, 11:39.

i think they must be farming out their advertising arm to india...

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:43 AM

India would have produced better copy. Trust me, I know. Can't blame outsourcing for the TT idiots...

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 11:48 AM

I live in the building, and I honestly just think they are charging too much for these. They are beautiful apartments, but I think they are trying to charge around $3k for a one bedroom, which, while I love the neighbordood and the building, is excessive for downtown brooklyn, even if you do get a subzero fridge.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 12:02 PM

Wasn't 110 Livingston the bad old Board of Ed? That would explain the ghastly grammar: the ghosts of dead educrats infest the building! I can see the horror movie now: "Doltergeist"...

As in all mixed use buildings, having rentals is a money source to keep maintenance low for the owners.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 12:35 PM

having money source keeps maintenance on david walentas' polo horses.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 12:38 PM

Spectacular. Maybe the egregious English error is a nod to the buildings glorious past?

Posted by: moreteasir at January 24, 2008 1:52 PM

Not pressure you, but if you advertise in English, you should learn to write in English. Same for any language - this is an equal opportunity opinion.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 1:58 PM

honestly, i'm kind of sick of hearing about this building -- enough already, is there any real news out there?

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 2:00 PM

12:35, since when the income generated by the sponsor units goes to the building instead of the sponsor's pocket?

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 2:51 PM

BellTel must use the same ad agency. The building's ads on the subway featured the building and surrounding neighborhoods, including Cobbie Hill (should read "Cobble Hill).

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 8:27 PM

That is funny! #8:27PM. I'd like to see a pic of that.

Posted by: guest at January 24, 2008 9:18 PM

I live in Cobbie Hill and it is Brooklyn's best nabe by FAR! Suck it Slopers!
