Really great that you are sharing these "how-to" videos with the readers.

A couple of comments about doing this type of work (which I have done dozens of times successfully as an homeowner with a REALLY old house): I would put newspaper down on the floor first so you don't smear the inevitable muck into the grout and everywhere else; I would wear disposable gloves; I would start with a hand snake (non-electric) because although it's hard work, the power drill snakes can easily break old cast iron waste line. start w/ a hand snake and see if you can pull the clog out that way; Guys like Tony who do this everyday have a nuanced and controlled touch w/ power equipment that the average joe doesn't have...

How much does a snake (hand or power) go for, and can I just get it at my local hardware store, or do I need to go to a specialty shop? Thanks!

I'm sure that you can get a snake at the local hardware store- non electric shouldn't be too much.

RIDGID makes many kinds of hand snakes for small drain cleaning for less than $100 Power snakes $250 to $600. Tony has a "nuanced and controlled touch" ? He's the old school super kind of handyman that you used to find in old lower east side tenement buildings filled with renters. Most homeowners would sh!t in their pants if you left a greasey black hand print on their 800 thread count bath towel or porous limestone wall tile.

greasey hand print? that aint no grease my friend.

2:01,

Let's just hope the homeowner's pants don't have an 800 thread count.
