Streetlevel: Another Bank for Myrtle Avenue

362myrtleavenue1207.jpg
After sitting boarded up for the past year, the corner retail location at 362 Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene has finally found a tenant. Carver Federal Savings Bank, the largest African- and Caribbean-American operated bank in America, has signed a 10-year lease on the 1,300-square-foot space. The deal was done by the Winick Realty Group.

it's nice to finally have something moving in here. a new bank is not an exciting addition to the neighborhood for me, but it's better than a boarded up storefront.

Choice between worst bank ever and boarded up store, I'd rather have a Chase (blasphemy)

I know, 4:25, anything black cannot be good. Ever considered relocating to a Leper colony?

Posted by: guest at December 11, 2007 4:32 PM

4:32, why do you assume 4:25 dislikes this bank because it's black owned? It could just be a shitty bank.
Personally, as a racist and anti-semite, I would trust my money to a traditional Jewish owned bank, but that dosent mean I think non-american blacks would make for bad bankers.
If this guy lives in the neighborhood he probably dosen't mind living around "you people". oh, and he might even be one. a Black person , i mean.

Carver is cool. About time something came there too. How greedy are these landlords that they would rather go without any rent for years before getting their price?

Also, what's going on with those muppets next door? Still want crazy prices for those units?

Am I the only one who dislikes what they did to this building? It was neat when it was all rounded. Now it just looks like a facsimile of a brownstone. Don't get me wrong; it could have been a lot worse but I dug the old modern look.
Wondering if that was original or if this is.

Wondering if that was original or if this is closer to what it looked like when it was built.

Blogsphere anonymity is the new 1st amendment right. Especially for cowards that tremble at the very sight of black school kids. These armchair racist are pitiful. You know who you are, COWARDS!

Posted by: guest at December 11, 2007 8:00 PM

So you would prefer the racists are open about it? Like KKK rallies and lynchings and stuff. Or private about it like the GOP?

Posted by: guest at December 11, 2007 8:11 PM

Is it racist to like Black Africans and Black Caribbeans more than Black Americans?

Posted by: guest at December 11, 2007 8:15 PM

I would prefer if you voiced your racist comments to whom engendered it. Like next time you see a cars parked with blaring music or street-corner drug dealers, address the person responsible. Braying over a blog just serve to underline the cowardice that lies at the heart of most of the racist comments excreted here.
By the way, don't assume for a moment that I am black.

any wonder why these fools are constantly badgered and robbed by teenagers?

Posted by: guest at December 11, 2007 9:10 PM

What do we have to do to bring a damn HSBC to the neighborhood?
