in response to the 4th ave article...
what do they expect? 4th ave is only a block from 5th ave and once people have a reason to go to 4th ave its going to change pretty fast. I hang out at the bars they mentioned quite abit and they are filled with white 20 somethings. We're our own worst enemy and it seems like some of my peers dont understand that these condos are rising because of people like themselves. This article reads like every NYT article ever.
also I just moved to the area from Raleigh, NC. Its having its own influx of new comers but prices never really are effected because of all the empty space. The town of Cary next to Raleigh has however been dubed "Containment Area for Relocating Yakees". The population has quadrupled over the last decade with yanks much to the dismay of the locals.

Pleas for rate cut as interbank loans dive
The sterling interbank market has collapsed at the fastest rate in modern history, prompting pleas for immediate rate cuts from a chorus of top British economists.

The controversy over the City Tech tower is that construction makes dust and the school next door already has enough dust? If you hate construction dust, you're already living in the wrong place! This is DOWNTOWN Brooklyn--tall buildings get built in downtown areas. This is the same in NYC or Salt Lake City.

The bubble WILL burst. Count on it. I've been telling you this for five years, so I know.

Because of POM,
The prices of pomegranates have increased exponentially! 5 bucks for 2? Shame on you POM!

File the Carniceria story under - nothing makes people happy.
A local business tries to recycle a sign that has context and history with the location and the same locals who complain about out-of-context-mallification then call the adaptive reuse a "rape".

Re: Boy Stabbed in Midwood Park Dies [NY Times]
The title should read "Robber stabbed in Midwood Park Dies". The kid who attempted to rob someone and then getting knifed was an idiot. I have zero sympathy for him but I do admiration for the target victim for standing up for himself. Another fool in contention for the Darwin Awards bites the dust. Good riddance.
