Re: that blog, who is this Dan on that blog who has decided he speaks for all of us? Besides, what is that, "in Flatbush"? You mean in all of the 10+ neighborhoods of Flatbush? There are so many areas of Flatbush and residents within those areas that are totally different from each other. All of whom have every right to be there. There's no one identity to any area of NYC and Brooklyn no matter how SOME people proudly embrace being lumped into one identity they think is more authentic because it's downtrodden and put-upon and suffering. Give us a break and grow up, all those who are keepin it real on the streets of Brooklyn.

Bah Humbug! Glad Christmas is almost over. Few more unbearable hours of the overrated, useless holiday. There's no Santa Claus, hear? Prefer Hannukkah Harry. Are Kwanzaa and Hannukkah keeping up with the Joneses? Enuff! My store is closed bec it's xmas, that's lotsa money down the pipe.

Um, guest 3:34, anybody can get a blog. I would imagine this Real Flatbush dude thinks he's speaking for himself. You're more than free to argue with him. Or, as they say, get your own blog. No?

That having been said, maybe he considers himself unpretentious--but to me he's coming off like a pretty serious loser. Herewith, a post in which he admits to trying to pick up similarly unpretentious types in local retail stores. Maybe he's not a poseur, but he sounds kinda predatory.... and definitely dorkapalooza.

Hook Up Spots
There is an article on the NY Sun that talks about new unconventional singles scene in NYC. Apparently shopping destinations are the new pick up spots. This being a neighborhood blog, I've decided to chronicle the best pick up spots on Flatbush. My favorites are Stop N Shop and Staples, on Regent, C-Town on Church and Argyl and C-Town off New Kirk Plaza. These are great places to meet new people. After 5:30 to 7 on weekdays are the best. This is the after work crowd. Most of the women and men are single professionals. Also on Saturday and Sunday Mid Mourning till 2 PM. I also like the Variety store on the corner of Parkside and Flatbush next to the Duane Reade. I've found that places that are not too pretentious or overdone are great to meet down to earth people.

Actually, "um" 9:36 on 12/25, I know what a blog is. I was addressing the fact this guy Dan DOES state on the main page of his blog that he's speaking for me. If he says his blogs speaks for all "non pretentious" people of Flatbush, that means we are forced to admit we're pretentious or we end up grouped in with this Dan guy. Sorry, I get to decide which group I'm in, not anybody else.

...actually, 11:15, Christmas officially ends on Three Kings Day, Jan 5. WONDERFUL PHOTO! The GAP decor is hypnotically wonderful and a great gift to the hood. The arch and fountain never looked better!
