Development Watch: 226 15th Street

226_15th_Street_12-07.JPG
A reader writes in to ask: "Do you know what the construction on 15th street between 5th and 6th avenues (closer to 5th) is? Looks like an old wearhouse is being torn down. New condos?" Answers: Yep, the old warehouse is biting the dust, and some sort of residential building is on the way. The developers have filed plans with the DOB for a four-story, 22-unit building c/o the prolific Karl Fischer Architects (which, alas, does not have a rendering on its site). Any South Slopers have more info on this one, like whether it's going to be a rental or condo? GMAP DOB P*Shark

I am still witing to see what is going on at the mega building lot on 4th ave between 16th street and Prospect Ave. That site has been inactive for so long and is starting to deteriorate to unsafe levels.

I found this after following the link above - a great shot of the theater on it's last day [as a theater] in the mid 1950s.
