Closing Bell: Park Slope Armory Lookin' Hot to Trot

pslopearmory1.JPG
It seems like the Park Slope Armory's $16 million revamp into a sports complex will indeed be finished late this month or sometime in January. The track has been completed since we last checked in on it in late August, and the bleachers appear more or less done. All in all, the humongous space looks pretty spectacular to us (see additional photo on jump). GMAP

Anyone know what the process is for joining / using the facility? It looks great; and what a wonderful amenity for the community!

Is this going to be anything other than a track? Are there other facilities?

I'm with guest and Rusty. Anyone know anything else about the facility? A Google wasn't too helpful. Most of the results are from the end of 2006 and the beginning of 2007.

awesome - they should have made it a banked track - like running on clouds.

I heard that there are (will be) a few basketball courts.

Any word on the future of the Bedford Stuyvesant Armory on Marcus Garvey?

when is it going to be done

What a waste of space. Would have made an awesome bank branch.

They desperately need to do something with the front landscaping. Right now there is this kind of haphazard outdoor space where the homeless woman sit all day on a bunch of crappy benches surrounded by a big iron fence waiting for the place to open up.

Been by the Armory at night recently? They've put lots of little gold lights on the trees for the holidays.
Very festive.
