Almost Move-In Time at One Hanson Place

According to a tipster, it won't be long before the moving trucks pull up in front of One Hanson Place. Apparently, the Temporary Certificate of Occupancy has been obtained for floors 9 through 14 and closings are being scheduled. The TCO for floors 15 and 16 is expected by the end of January with closings in March. Have any readers had their closings scheduled or take place yet?

When does the clock start to work again?

those arnt cheap but if I was looking for a place for around 700k Id be all over that. The fact that all of the units are way the hell up in the building makes me want to be friends with someone who lives there.

When I was at Forte 2 weeks ago - they said 1st closings were to be that coming week. Wondered if anyone has moved in there yet also.

From today's Daily News:
"When it comes to crime in Manhattan and central Brooklyn, it's a tale of two cities.
While most New Yorkers walk the streets without fear because crime is down, many Crown Heights residents say they hear gunshots all night long and are afraid to go out for groceries after dark."
Montrose Morris is a lying, shilling sack of sh*t.

^ off topic?
some lady just got shot by accident in her front yard. Crown Heights has some problems.
Posted by: Santa at December 20, 2007 10:42 AM
Yeah, waaayyy off topic. If Brownstoner wants to start a thread on this, I will be more than happy to rock and roll. Let me just say this:
I am extremely upset and saddened by the death of Ms Simon, whose was shot on Eastern Parkway between Bedford and Franklin. The degenerate who shot her should never see the light of day again, and this is yet another reason why the proliferation of guns in our society is just wrong. There are too many guns in the hands of idiots everywhere. In Crown Heights, in other parts of Brooklyn, the rest of the city, and in the hands of disturbed children who frequent schools and malls.
While none of those events excuses this shooting, and while I am in no way trivialzing it, it still does not represent the way of life, or the people of Crown Heights. I do not hear gunshots at night, and I am not afraid to go out into the street during the day, or night. This is a fine community going through growing pains, and economic and social upheaval. Blame the shooter, blame guns, blame the criminal justice system, blame George Bush, if it makes you feel better. But don't blame the community.
This is the same community that is represented by countless strangers, black, white and otherwise, who brought food and a word of solace, prayer and condolances to the Simon house, and have been actively seeking justice and better police protection for our neighborhood. We're out here doing what we can for a neighborhood we love. If that makes me a shill, then I'm a shill.
Happy Holidays, and peace to all.
Posted by: Montrose Morris at December 20, 2007 11:11 AM
While you may not be scared to go out or hear gunshots, Montrose, many other Crown Heights residents are frightened and do hear them.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 11:26 AM
Montrose Morris is a total shill. She's demonstrated that time and again.
I also wish someone would have taught her that brevity is a virtue. She has the lowest "signal to noise" ratio of any poster on this board.
Prolixity, thy name is Montrose!
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 11:32 AM
Give Montrose a break, it's the holidays.
Terrible acts of violence can happen to any one of us anywhere. So lets be thankful that crime is generally down in the city and hope that the victim's family will have the strength to recover from this.
Crown Heights is improving every year. Lovers of Brooklyn and historic neighborhoods should be applauding and encouraging that trend.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 11:53 AM
There are probably many people in your community who know who the shooter is and they will not report it. It is your community, not one outlying individual.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 11:55 AM
I moved to CH about two years ago. If anything, I believe it's more dangerous now than when I arrived. Yes, there are lots of people working to make the nabe better, but we aren't going to promote a safer community in CH by failing to tell the truth about the current state of things.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 11:56 AM
How about we get back to the original topic? Start a thread somewhere else on Crown Heights. One Hanson isn't anywhere near there so why discuss it here?
Anybody out there moving in to One Hanson? I am and this post confirms the information I've been hearing...
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 12:02 PM
Crown Heights troll = PLG troll. Ignore.
Is there any word on what is going to be in the commercial space at One Hanson. And does anyone have the link to the rendering for the new entrance to the LIRR across the street?

Maybe Bear Sterns employees can buy in One Hanson Place NOT!

I am not moving into One Hanson but I wish I were. I think I would be excited out of mind if I were about to move into that magnificent tower.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 12:10 PM
Also went to One Hanson same day as I went to Forte. Agent said no lease signed yet for commercial space but in negotiations and would not speculate on who that might be.
Model apt. did seem very well done with great finishes and had feeling of pre-war apts.
Posted by: Petebklyn at December 20, 2007 12:12 PM
Forte has started scheduling closings too. I believe the first one has already happened and a bunch are scheduled for January.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 12:31 PM
The What, you really need to take your meds now. I picture you looking like Bill the Cat in the Bloom County cartoon. He made more sense. Take a holiday chill pill, you can't even put a coherent sentence together.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 12:34 PM
Montrose doesn't care who dies, just so long as his property values don't suffer.

Surprised to hear them say they're close. I walked by yesterday, and looking up at the first 5 or 6 floors, things looked mighty bare.
I'd be all over it, too, provided a 40% chop and some decent schools. Think we'll see the former before the latter!
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 12:52 PM
one of the best public high schools in all of NYC is w/n walking distance of WSB
Posted by: BrooklynLove at December 20, 2007 1:03 PM
Which school is that BL?
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 1:17 PM
12:47. Thanks! Kind of boring. That whole development was such a lost opportunity in terms of defining a prime location.
Posted by: Putnamdenizen at December 20, 2007 1:20 PM
Murder and rape are down this year in Crown Heights from 2006 (22 to 15 and 22 to 17, respectively). Larceny, robbery, assault and burglary are all up from 2-17%. Murders are down 81% compared to 1993.

10:37,
I here ya. I have a friend and an in-law in Crown H. who tell me that gunshot sounds from their bedroom windows are commonplace. With the impending recession, it can only get worse. I hope I am proved wrong.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 1:21 PM
Crown Heights is a cesspool. Everyone knows it.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 1:23 PM
hear
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 1:23 PM
Ten years hence, after things in CH have improved substantially, THEN it will be a cesspool!
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 1:31 PM
So 1:21, why are your friends and inlaws making gunshot sounds from their bedroom windows? Sounds like they are part of the problem, not the solution.

shoo. shoo, troll. shoo.

This intentionally got HERSELF killed in order to make CH look bad. Disgusting.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 2:13 PM
I agree that Montrose Morris is annoying. Whether the topic is fruit stands, crime, or renovation, he/she cannot express a point in less than 1000 words and always comes across as droning and lecturing. I suspect that he/she is a college professor or some other occupation that permits one to speak at length uninterrupted.
While Crown Heights is improving, it still has a serous problem with violent crime. If given the choice between Montrose Morris's long-winded posts or actual facts (e.g. crime stats, newspaper stories, postings on message boards by Crown Heights residents, etc.), I'll always believe the latter.

Quit the profanity or you're off to detention again.

The What: If Mr. B gives you trouble, just ask the Brownstoner Troll for a little help. He doesn't seem to have any trouble making Mr. B his bitch.
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 3:31 PM
Honestly I didn't feel like the layouts of Hanson were worth what they are asking. I've seen really nice prewar layouts in lower manhattan. I agree that the finishes at Hanson are nice, but that's about, oh, and model apt reaked pottery barn...
Almost forgot, the other turn off was the cross eyed thug that they call a security guard in the lobby. Seemed inept and rude.

The high school is Brooklyn Tech on Dekalb, across from the park. Students have to do very well on the competitive specialized high school test, taken in 8th grade. Great school but huge.

Most coherent comment that could come from The What would be to follow Bill the Cat’s lead and give an “Ack” followed by a swig of whiskey, a hiccup and another “Ack”

has there ever been a brownstoner.com mixer?

Just to bring the conversation back to the post... there are no temporary certificates of occupancy issued for 1 Hanson Place as per the BIS
Posted by: guest at December 20, 2007 6:00 PM
I lived in crown heights last year for a year. I used to hear gun shots every week. CH is a shithole and I am so glad I don't live there anymore.

Guest @ December 20, 2007 12:02 PM,
My husband and I are moving to One Hanson in the 15-17 batch, and this confirms what we've heard as well.
We also learned that FIOS is installed in the building and will be ready for use when we get there. So happy. :)

6pm: TCO for One Hanson has now been issued and is visible on BISweb. It lists floors "5-10", which in marketing terms are 9-14. (They renumbered the floors for condo sales.)
10:35: Yes, people have begun moving into the lower floors of Forte.
