Have only a passing knowledge, but placing extensive exposed a/c ductwork (especially in a total renovation, where presumbly you could run them indoors easily) seems the height of folly. Even if well insulated, sunbaked ducts must lose enormous amounts of coolth, surely? Or is that why the ducts are so large?

But then, I was never a fan of central a/c anyway as it's hardly a good energy policy.
