Today, Brooklyn Academy of Music welcomes singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sufjan Stevens for the world premiere of his newest work, "The BQE," commissioned by the 25th Next Wave Festival. Thursday, 8:00 p.m. $20 to $50. Sold out but some tix available on Craigslist. Howard Gilman Opera House, 30 Lafayette Avenue.

Safe-T-Gallery Reception
Today, Safe-T-Gallery presents an opening reception for Daniel Blochwitz’s “Mixed Messages” and Maureen Kelleher’s “Home Girl Don’t Play.” The exhibitions run until December 1. Thursday, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. 111 Front Street, suite 214. (718) 782-5920.
