Closing Bell: Public Art in Cadman Plaza

We're not entirely sure what it's supposed to mean, but there's something fun about David Hardy's contribution to the current batch of Art in the Parks. Luckily, he's taken the time to explain how the Cadman Plaza-placed sculpture came about:
I was thinking of the movie Repo Man, in which a man just explodes, leaving his boots behind. I wanted to address the problem of public art and ‘the art experience,’ where the anticipation of the event is often so much more than the event itself. But what if the event itself was the cause of excitement?
The piece will be up through January 5, 2008.

Safe to say we can handle the excitement of this event. But what is the MEMORY of the event going to hold? Yikes.
