At Long Last, Hotel Le Bleu Opens

hotellebleuopen.JPG
The much-hyped and much-delayed Hotel Le Bleu is finally open for business. Over the weekend, Gowanus Lounge and NewYorkology reported that the 48-room boutique hotel on 4th Avenue—which was originally scheduled to open way back in July—started welcoming guests on Friday. Now it remains to be seen whether the Gowanus hotel’s prices (which start at $306 a night) are gonna fly. Anyone notice any guests going in and out?

$306 a night.
Kinda pricey for a place whose very location screams nooner, eh?

Funny. I was watching the Marathon basically across the street from "The Blue" and said to my companions: "Too bad they still haven't opened that place, would've been a great place to watch the race." Couldn't see anyone on the balconies, but that doesn't mean there weren't any guests. Perhaps they were sipping mimosas in "The Vue Lounge!"

i think they'll get major business from the cabbies next door looking for a quick nap.

There was a naked guy on one of the balconies during the marathon. Didn't have a camera, otherwise, I'd bless Brownstoner readers with an upskirt shot.

I walked around this area to see what all the fuss was about with park slope (7th avenue, 5th avenue), and then ventured towards 3rth and 4th avenue, and I have to tell you even if I had to live south of 5th avenue, this area is wonderful. Granted it's blighted but to be so close to all the shops and adorable restaurants in park slope is sheer heaven.

So a hotel like this or any housing that I could get in the area would be a blessing.

The naked guy on the balcony was the financial backer, having already his shirt (not to mention his pants).

There is no fuss about Park Slope. Just a fake hype that brokers are trying to create as the above puke inducing post demonstrates.

I think that the Hotel Bleu will do just fine... its location, in spite of the naysayers, is convenient to many amenities.

Glad to hear that it finally opened, just in time for the holiday season and the arrival of out-of-towners.

Hotel le Bleu: Steps to Staples for all of your emergency office supply needs.

Those would be some mighty tiny kitchenless condos.

10:09, the fuss has been pretty much going since the 80s. i'm guessing you hadn't been pushed out your mama yet back then.

Any update on Hotel Le Jolie (sister hotel in Williamsburg)? It seemed like they might be getting ready to open - driving pass this weekend, I saw curtains in the hotel windows and lights on.

I was checking for rooms for the Monday and Tues of Thanksgiving week and they wanted over $400. That is nuts. Rather stay at the Marriot for that price, they have a pool.

Posted by: guest at November 5, 2007 4:24 PM

marriot is 495 minimum.

good luck.

Posted by: guest at November 5, 2007 4:29 PM

there's a space on my couch for $125.

The Marriott chain is owned by Mormons, which is to say nut-case cult members with all sorts of weird, right-wing agendas and bigotries (they didn't allow blacks to join until 1978, and I haven't even touched on the polygamy and pedophilia)--so I don't stay there. Marriott also owns the Ritz-Carlton chain. They no get-a my bidness.

That said, this Le Bleu joint looks like a crazy idea to me--whatevs.

i think you could find something objectionable about every single corporation in creation. that said, mormons are LAME!

Where are the trees? The Hotel Le Bleu website shows it surrounded by trees, and what might be snow-capped mountains. Also, the building itself bears only a vague resemblance to the shiny computer rendering.

From what I hear, Le Bleu is almost full with people checking in every day. I say congratulations to them and wish them much luck. Although I think they are a bit pricey, we do need nice hotels in Brooklyn. They are close to Manhattan. The 9th Ave subway is only a couple of blocks away. There are really nice eateries on 5th Ave, great shopping on 7th Ave and Atlantic Mall. Prospect Park can be just as nice as Central Park. If the city invested in PP as much as CP, it would just as famous.Le Bleu should do well.

I rooms at Le Bieu are ok. There was no cold water when i took a shower and there is a refrigerator.
