235 Gold Street Revealed

The rough details of the Lazerian family project at Gold and Tillary in Downtown Brooklynsomewhere between 377 and 500 apartments, depending on whether you believe the DOB filings or the NY Sunhaven't been a secret for a while. The look of the building has, though. Until now. The 12-story design by Avinash Malhotra Architects feels similar in style and scale to Avalon Christie in Manhattan, doesn't it? Note the Golden Arches at left. Big Mac, anyone? It may be a while before we see the real goodsthings haven't been exactly flying along on-site.

So this is what the "gateway to Brooklyn" will look like when you come over the Manhattan Bridge...yecch
Posted by: guest at November 8, 2007 10:16 AM
10:16 this building will not be visable to people entering Brooklyn from the Manhattan Bridge; but even if it was....
What do you expect a residential building built in 2008 to look like(much less one built next to the BQE, a McDonalds and a storage facility) please provide an example of a residential building built anywhere in the last 10 years that you find acceptable
And btw no matter what this building looks like it is a vast improvement to what was there before

500 apartments? Who are they building all this housing for? The Mcdonalds was sold to a developer. No big macs from there. Slated to be condos.

what was there before was a profitable tile/granite business.
whats your point 10:21?
Posted by: guest at November 8, 2007 10:23 AM
That's pretty damn good, 10:11. Nice one!

Mr. B'stoner: thanks for posting another condo for us to rip into. Gabby's stuff has been boring lately, and I've been jonesing for some vitriol. Do more toxic development sites and class warfare, love that stuff too. Still, nothing beats a condo dustup to get the anger-wheels spinning. Keep it coming.

This is gonna be so awesome!
Living right across from the firehouse - hot! (just not so quiet)
Across from McDonands - I'm lovin' it!
Traffic - Jammin'!
BQE - on two sides!
Tards.

I have no idea if the tile business was profitable or not (and nor do you I suspect) but the point is successful or not from an architectural standpoint (which is what 10:16's post was about) this building is far superior to what was there

The rendering kind of ignores the BQE ramp right next door unless I am totally misunderstanding the vantage point. Also - I am not pointing out like the trolls who often post that EVERYTHING in Brooklyn is the projects - that this is kitty corner to the actual Walt Whitman houses and only one (albeit long block) to the Farragut houses.
Top dollar!

Keep building them. I love this. More choices, only short sighted losers (most probably bitter loser Brooklynites - read white trash fat lards) would be against this.

10:26-- You forgot the relocated homeless shelter just across Tillary...
Posted by: guest at November 8, 2007 12:57 PM
looks great. let's hope it gets done.

11:19 - There's a lot of construction on the Tillary St. on ramp to the BQE. They may be relocating it which would explain it's absence in the sketch. Just an uneducated guess though.

I love it if a big developer would buy up Concord Village, raze it, and build something that is better looking. Ditto to the fugly towers in Brooklyn Heights across from the Court House. Though, I think these are under Michelle-Lama, not sure about Concord Village.
Regardless, raze all the fugly buildings.

The prices for 2bd/2bth in Concord Village were very reasonalbe when I was checking them out in the summer. Though, the building is butt ugly, is cut off from all the surrounding neighborhoods, and it has low a$$ ceilings (I guess they're on par with other cheap buildings) in Brooklyn Heights, you know the ones with 7'8" ceilings and paper thin windows.
This building is 10x better, build more please, or he*l, build rentals like Court Street Apartments (Court/Atlantic).

10;23...no point just wondering with all the developments being built, how do they guarantee they will be sold? Mcdonalds has supposedly been sold to a developer for condos to be built.

I have no problem with concord village. I purchased a studio there in 2001 for $86,000. It's been appraised at $270,000.
Butt ugly? I smell green...kaching!!!
