Streetlevel: A General Store for Boerum Hill

BlueRibbonstorefront.jpg
Sushi it ain't! When the Blue Ribbon General Store opens later this month at the corner of State and Bond Streets, Boerum Hillers will find an eclectic array of household items within their reach. Longtime Brooklynite Ann Lopatin describes her new venture as a "modern general store for a well-lived life, combining the charm of a country general store with the sophistication of a modern city lifestyle." Look for an ever-changing mix of merch (books, pillows, games) as well as in-store events. The "soft opening" is this Thursday and the store will officially launch with a party on October 17. the homeless drop in center is on the next block. this used to be a business office for one of the many neighborhood condo developments, and before that, it was soft skull books.

it WAS on the next block, but no longer. my point was that this stretch of bond has changed a lot recently.
