Prepping for the Prospect Heights House Tour
On the heels of last weekend's Crown Heights North House Tour, architecture and interior design gawkers get a shot at some of Prospect Heights most interesting properties this Sunday. Sponsored by the Prospect Heights Association, the house tour will feature nine homes— seven houses and two apartments— including 153 Prospect Place (left) and 364 Sterling Place (right). The tour also coincides with an effort by the neighborhood's preservationist community to obtain Landmark status as the spectre of large-scale development looms from the north. Tickets are $15 in advance from Tillies on Vanderbilt, Berman Realty at 105 7th Avenue and Tom's Restaurant at 787 Washington; tix are also available on the day of the tour from Forest Floor Antiques (which is the kick-off point as well) for $20. I'm looking forward to this tour, too. One question - most tours have a starting place where tickets are exchanged for guidebooks. Can someone clarify if that's at Forest Floor Antiques, or somewhere else? The website didn't say, either.

I'm really looking forward to the PH House Tour and I hope it goes well. Because the Crown Heights tour was so disappointing, I'm nervous now that the PH tour won't be a success. It's a great neighborhood though with some great homes, so I figure that greatly increases the odds of success!

One would think people could look forward to one house tour, without insulting another tour. It's very catty and it seems like a lot of that cattiness came from the Prospect Heights team (on the Crown Heights tour thread earlier this week) which is unfortunate. Their PH houses might be more expensively and beautifully renovated but inner beauty counts for a lot in life too!
(I'm not a Crown Heights resident btw)

The comments about the CH house tour were mean spirited, but there's no reason to attribute them to the organizers of the PH house tour ("the PH team"). From what I understand, the organizers of the PH house tour have helped out Crown Heights as they started their first house tour and Crown Heights Association has been helping out PH heights preservationists with landmarking.

Just out of curiosity, what evidence do you have that the poster at 2:35 is a troll as opposed to someone who simply didn't care for the Crown Heights house tour? Surely you admit the logical possibility that someone might disagree with you without being a troll, correct? If so, then on what grounds do you label the 2:35 poster a 'troll'? I'm really curious to understand this.

Whether someone thinks of oneself as a troll or not, it's considered trollish behavior to feel so strongly compelled to insult a neighborhood everytime you compliment another one. That said, such a person is fully aware their comments will provoke hurt feelings and fights. Which is exactly the definition of troll, right?
