Good Fences Make Good Celebrity Neighbors

grenierfence1007.jpg
Good news for those Clinton Hill residents who have grown tired of the temporary plywood construction fence that's been up in front of Adrian Grenier's house for many months now. Turns out that LPC didn't exactly fast-track approval of the iron fence design. All systems are go now, though, so look for some action before the holidays. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that the mirror-image house next door can be brought back from the dead.

I heard Adrian Grenier is moving to Park Slope.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 10:12 AM

I heard Park Slope is moving to Soho.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 10:18 AM

From everything I'm hearing, we might be in for another pretty rough patch in NYC coming up...economony is about to take a pretyy bad fall I think.

In that case, I think we'll see a LOT of people moving to Park Slope from the other more fringe neighborhoods of Brooklyn. Especially those with kids.

No one who paid a million bucks for their home is going to want to be in Bed Stuy if we hit a severe recession.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 10:53 AM

why not10:53am?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:14 AM

crime.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:21 AM

I think there is crime everywhere in NYC not just in Bedford Stuyvesant... I think what you are saying is true in the 1980s. Most of the time then it was people that knew each other... I think you are going to have a lot more crime in places like PS when those bankers lose there jobs. The working class people in BS are going to be around still we still need teachers, soical workers and blue collar people to make this city run....

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:27 AM

if things get cheaper everyone is just going to move back to manhattan.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:46 AM

i heard manhattan is the new queens

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:49 AM

well, a friend who went to pratt, and lived in bed-sty on dekalb ave got mugged at gunpoint last year. also, how comfortable would you feel when people in the bodega are behind glass? yeah.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:50 AM

Yeah, people who invested $700K on a house in Bed-Stuy within the past couple of years are now going to sell at a loss and move to a neighborhood that's five times as expensive because the economy might take a downturn. Right.

Can we drop the trenchant economic analysis and get back to celebrity fencing, please? I think this fence looks nice. Wish I had a driveway like Adrian. Also wish I had his hair.

the east village used to be a complete waste land. Now I cant afford it.

how does that story prove anything?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 11:59 AM

Well, Guest 11:50 AM - everyone knows of course, that people ONLY get mugged in Bed Stuy - it never happens anywhere else.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime_file/2007/09/23/2007-09-23_armed_bandit_mugs_central_park_couple.html

Also, who in the sam hill is Adrian Grenier?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:07 PM

Bed Stuy used to be the murder capital of New York.

We aren't talking about muggings here.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:17 PM

I wish I had HIM!

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:22 PM

You said it yourself, 12:17 - "used to be".

What does this have to do with Adrian Grenier's fence? Was it mugged in Bed Stuy?

I don't think so.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:26 PM

It has to do with his fence, because it won't be his fence for long, as he's moving to Park Slope and out of the ghetto.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:30 PM

you can go to the nyc police dept. and look up crime stats. yeah, someone got mugged at 8:45 pm in central park. also, i wouldn't go to the park after dark, either. however, i have no problem with walking down my street on the UES at anytime of the day. everyone is different, though.

p.s. adrian greiner has a big head.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:35 PM

somebody got mugged in bed stuy?!! oh no!

Don't worry. Your parents have been called and will be here to pick you up shortly!

Adrien Grenier might get mugged too, if he ever actually spent any time at 'his' house :)

Posted by: Jimmy Legs at October 31, 2007 12:36 PM

i forgot adrian greiner was in williamsburg, before it was williamsburg, so doesn't it make sense that he'd be in bed-sty before it grand concourse section of the bronx and be there before it becomes grand concourse.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zMB3sbvNzc

it all make so much more sense now.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:39 PM

he's hot as hell.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 12:46 PM

Everyone has a friend that got mugged in BS last year but on the news you always hear about people that get mugged on the UES. I think those people should move to Park Slope.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 1:09 PM

I've always wanted a house with a Mansard roof.

Posted by: Polemicist at October 31, 2007 1:16 PM

we've got enough people in park slope already, thanks.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 1:16 PM

People who claim that crime is no more likely in Bed Stuy than anywhere else in NYC do Bed Stuy a disservice. It's transparent neighborhood-boosting bullsh*t. and thus makes all the (true) good things people say about Bed Stuy look like transparent neighborhood-boosting bullsh*t too.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 1:24 PM

I could not agree more, 1:24.

You are absolutely right.

The Bed Stuy booster would have you believing Bed Stuy is similar to Sesame Street when actually the neighhood's demographics and povery rate is much closer to that of South Central LA or the South Side of Chicago.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 1:37 PM

I heard Adrian Grenier was moving to Queens Blvd. Oh, sorry, mixing up Adrian with his Entourage alter-ego Vinnie Chase!

Has Adrian Grenier spent any time in his home since he bought it and started renovating it?

He has been doing the Hollywood circuit like mad.

I think he was back in New York for like 5 minutes at the end of the summer.

Other than that, not so much.

So, who watches his home when he isn't there?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 2:06 PM

I think it looks quite lovely, but now I am worried that once I win the Mega Millions and buy the property on Washington between Willoughby and Dekalb I worry that the LPC will hold up my dream to fix up that place.

Sigh.

(if you're wondering which house has made me dream for years:

Why are you talking about Bed-Stuy when this house is in Clinton Hill?

Posted by: Putnamdenizen at October 31, 2007 3:11 PM

It's all the same.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 3:16 PM

I want that place on Washington too so I can tell people I live in a double-wide.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 3:34 PM

You people are all knuckleheads if you think Adrian Grenier actually lives/will ever live in Clinton Hill. He bought the house through/for his mother. She is a Corcoran broker. His name is just publicity for the house and nabe so she can re-sell it soon at a major profit.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 4:22 PM

Who owns the mirror-image home next door?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 4:29 PM

I've seen him around Brooklyn multiple times.

So you are wrong, 4:22.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 4:30 PM

Of course you've seen him in Brooklyn. He makes regular appearances to give the impression that he lives there, and so that people write about it. Duh. Don't be so naive. His mother lives there, so he's probably visiting her. You are clueless as to the way PR operates.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 4:37 PM

He lives there.

Period.

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 4:43 PM

That amazing waitress from Brawta lives in Bed Stuy!

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 5:57 PM

His pad on Entourage is way ooler than this Granny Smith special.
Look, a real driveway! whoopee-do!!

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 7:57 PM

Brownstoner, get a life, seriously, and stop posting where people live. I'm gonna come to your house and post a sign that says..Schmuck who doesn't have a life with a shitty blog lives here! Can't you come up with your own stories? You suck!

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 8:39 PM

when you write your blog, 8:39 you can write about whoever you please.

until that time comes, how bout you shut your trap?

Posted by: guest at October 31, 2007 8:57 PM

When he's not there, I watch his house. I watch it when he's there too. Waiting to catch another glimpse of those dreamy eyes...What can I say, I dig hairy, swarthy men.

I live in Bed Stuy, I've been in the stuy since 1994...Have i seen people getting mugged?...yep! Have i seen people get beat up? Yep!, Haven't seen anyone die by the hands of another person...Thank God! I have a prime view of Bedstuy...I can look out my window, see, hear and watch everything go down...Am I moving out of BedStuy? nope! Do some history people...Dumbo was off the hook many years ago, I was robbed in Clinton Hill in 1997...Word! Park Slope wasn't the most friendly places back in the day according to my pops (a black man, if you know what i mean) In 2000 - 2002 there was a number of shooting, car jacks and other crap going on in Park Slope....yep, lovely park slope, got a cousin who is a cop...that's his beat. We live in America, New york, Brooklyn.

I still live in BedStuy w/ the many many many white folk moving in, I remember visiting my aunt here in Bedstuy Brooklyn, back in the 80's, everytime i would fly out here from Cali...we would go to a cafe in Dumbo...when no trendy person was living out there...just artist, we'd past through Clinton hill and Fort Green. And yall think only bad things go down in BedStuy? Things weren't always greener on the other side.

One love, enjoy your family, yourself and life...
