Great news for Gage and Tollner location!

I never feel sorry for rent control tenants until there's a face and a name...then I feel really bad.
On another note, i wish it was Charles's Southern cooking that was coming instead of Amy Ruth's...we need good fried chicken in the area.

Amy Ruth's sounds like the perfect pairing and now I'm so happy I don't have to go to Harlem for Chicken + Waffles! Yum.

Agreed on the new restaurant. Downtown Brooklyn is really becoming a place to eat out. While many on these boards revile chains, every one that has opened thus far (e.g. Applebees, BBQs, and soon IHOP) have all proven to be very popular. Amy Ruth's will surely be a success, too (yes, I'm aware that Amy Ruth's is not a chain).

New York Magazine’s Chloe Osborne describes it as follows: “Amy Ruth’s feels as if it has always existed. It’s confident and comfortable.” The magazine, which also awards it a “critic’s choice,” says it is a tribute to a southern grandmother’s cooking and to a number of noteworthy African Americans, suggesting that readers order “The Rev. Al Sharpton” (fried or smothered chicken and waffles)
The food sounds great, but "The Rev. Al Sharpton"? I don't think so...

Amy Ruth's - yea!
As to the Al Sharpton - like it or not, (and I'm not one of his fans) Rev. Al is a notable African American. So they names a meal after him....Carnegie Deli and other NY restaurants have been naming sandwiches after celebs for years, and some of them are less than universally stellar too. It's not like he gets a residual for each waffle.
I'm looking forward to a great landmark being opened again. I actually didn't have a problem with TGI Friday's. At least the building was being used, and on the tax roster. Amy Ruth's is a welcome addition to the multicultural culinary mix that should be downtown Bklyn.

My heart breaks for that elderly woman having to be relocated at her age.She should be left to enjoy the last few years of her life in familiar surroundings .Sad for the rest of her family as well. However I am confused. If the nephew sold the property to the investor in 2006, how is he able to try to evict them? Is he still part owner then? Why wouldnt Waynestock be handling eviction proceedings? Boy, family will screw ya in a minute for the almighty dollar. All i can say is God doesnt like ugly. What goes around , comes around. How does he live with himself? Has he no conscience?

Which is why the TGI Fridays at the G&T location FAILED?
