September 11 Memorials Around Brooklyn
There are several events being held around Brooklyn today to commemorate the events of September 11, 2001. This evening at 6 p.m. at in Marine Park at the field house near Fillmore Avenue, State Senator Marty Golden will host a ceremony of prayers, silence and music; then at 8 p.m. Golden will oversee a 21-gun salute at the American Veterans Memorial Pier (above) at 69th Street. Other events include a candle-lighting at Paerdegat Park in East Flatbush at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at the memorial at the corner of Conselyea Street and Graham Avenue in Williamsburg also at 7 p.m; there are also eight concerts organized by the September Concert Foundation taking place today. For a more complete list of concerts as well as other memorial events, check out the Park Slope Courier. Please feel free to list others in the comments section.
