Signs of Life at 333 Carroll?

333carroll.JPG
The condo conversion at 333 Carroll Street (notable for its towering, skeletal rooftop addition) has been sitting untouched for months due to a stop work order, but rumors are circulating that the still-active SWO on the property is being flouted. According to a discussion thread on Pardon Me For Asking, several people have noticed activity at the site over the last few days. One person writes: “They were there last Saturday and someone...saw them doing something with beams and I saw them doing work on what I believe is the elevator shaft. Another person also saw them working.” We swung by the development yesterday and there was nothin’ doin’. A stoop-sitter across the street said he had seen people inside the building a few times last week but thought they were moving materials around rather than actually engaging in construction work. “It’s just a shame that this building is sitting here rotting,” he said. “It’s about time they do something with it.”

They were removing the scaffold. They were not wearing proper safety gear nor were they allowed in, but they did take down the scaffold around the top floor.Dropped it off to the lower floors and made a TON of noise doing it. They need to take down top floors (frame) since(surprise) Scarano broke the rules. They built it really fast-but now that they have to take it down...I think if we let ivy grow all over it it may make a lovely bird sanctuary. Oh, and please don't defend Mr S. He is a crook. DOB Laws are in place for a reason. How it got this far is amazing.
