Development Watch: No-Go on Norten/Singer Team-Up
It seems like anything can happen on development-crazed 4th Avenue nowadays, including an unholy alliance of starchitect and slumlord. Or maybe not. Turns out plans for an Enrique Norten-designed apartment building on 4th Avenue and 6th Street have been canned, according to a representative from Ten Arquitectos. And who owns the site where the Norton project was supposed to rise? None other than slumlord extraordinaire Baruch Singer. Singer’s name is all over property records for 391 4th Avenue, a purchase that was a joint venture with Rosma Development, according to a source. No word on what Singer and Rosma are planning to develop now, and there’s been zero action on the DOB-filing front. The old warehouse at the corner of 4th Avenue and 6th Street that the partnership would need to demolish is still standing (see photo on jump). It’s not all bad news for Enrique Norten fans in the Slope, though: Work is moving right along on a Ten Arquitectos building on Carroll between 4th and 5th avenues.

Anybody know what's going on with the fire station next to this spot? I walked by there the other day and the front doors were open and it was gutted inside with a big hole in the back.

baruch singer not only is a scumbag but he is a deadbeat as well. he does not pay his subs or consultants and hides behind bullshit dummy corporations galore. he works out of a shithole office on delancey st and needs a tailor and a dentist badly. he would not only walk by a bleedingman on the street, he would step on him and take his wallet.
