Astroland Space Chase Ends

The dim hope that the city would find a new Coney Island location for Astroland seems to have faded. Officials said yesterday that the city hadn’t been able to secure a boardwalk-side space big enough to house the amusement park. The news is likely the final nail in the coffin for Astroland, although its owner, Carol Hill Albert, is still trying to get a lease extension from Thor Equities in order to reopen at the park's current location next summer. Thor had been asking $3 million for an extended lease from Albert, who was paying $170,000 a season in rent.

They should get Discovery Channel to fund a series with them building a mega-barge and moving the park onto it.

Cry me a river! Carol Albert sold Astroland to Sitz for $40 million and she has the nerve to whine about the rent and wants the city to bail her out? WTF?
