Fire at Development Site on Marcy and Stockton

stocktonfire1.jpg
We're justing getting word about a big fire that happened yesterday evening at a new development site at Marcy and Stockton. The tipster described the building-in-progress as Fedders-esque. More photos on the jump. Did anyone witness this or know about the cause? Anyone hurt? GMAP

This isn't Lewis & Myrtle. It's Stockton & Myrtle, right outside the Mrytle/willoughby stop on the G Train. The development went up fairly quickly, but I've got no idea how the fire started. When I came above ground yesterday around 7pm... Fire trucks were just arriving. It was another "Piece-O-Shit" development anyway....

that's what we were told by the tipster but can't see where Stockton and Myrtle intersect on the map!

my guess is there will be a lot more of these fires to collect insurance for developments that are either hit by a liquidity crisis or just wont be profitable in the down market.

"my guess is there will be a lot more of these fires to collect insurance for developments that are either hit by a liquidity crisis or just wont be profitable in the down market"

If this is true...have these developers thought about the firemen that go in to risk there lives to put the fire out!!!!!

Sorry Mr. B. I meant Marcy & Stockton @ the Myrtle/Willoghby G train stop. One block north of Myrtle.

united homes of ny is the owner

Posted by: guest at August 21, 2007 6:43 PM

United Homes (of the ubiquitous subway advertisements) is being sued for pushing buyers into overappraised houses (Wragg & Barkley v. United Homes).

"If this is true...have these developers thought about the firemen that go in to risk there lives to put the fire out!!!!!"

Sadly, I think not. Nor, did they think about the cost to the city in emergency services, environmental impact, etc., etc.
