Development Watch: Still No Action at 267 First Street

277FirstStreet.JPG
The curvaceous number that's been going up on First Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues appears to be having a difficult time following a straight path to the finish line. No work’s been done at 267 First Street—an Isaac Fischman-Robert Scarano project—for eight months, as there’s been a stop-work order on the construction since January. When we posted about this in May, we guessed that FAR shenanigans might be to blame for the lack of progress; one person, meanwhile, commented that beams had fallen from the site. We're putting this one out there again, though, since whatever caused the DOB violation is apparently still unresolved: Anyone got inside dirt on why this is still stalled?

Actually the beams fell from the large building going up further west on 1st street. You should do some fact checking before posting.

Actually I am the OP about the beams falling and this is the very building they fell from. The one near 4th Ave. Scary to think they had a similar problem at a building up the block as well. But there are a lot of safety problems on these construction sites. They just don't usually get reported anywhere. I bet the workers are too scared to report violations. And so it's only when neighbors see trouble that things get reported anywhere officially.

It looks like construction has started back up on this property - or deconstruction I guess would be the most appropriate. It looks to me that they are jackhammering away the top floor of the building. FAR issue being resolved??
