Development Watch: Nothin' Doin' at 1097 Bedford Avenue

1097Bedford0807.jpg
While construction proceeds apace at 1142 Bedford Avenue, a huge lot across the street sits vacant. A call to the office of Renaissance Realty Group, which has owned the 140-by-85-foot plot since 2003, yielded only word from the receptionist that the developer "isn't sure what they want to do" at the site. This statement is supported by the lack of any DOB filings. What do you think would be a good use for this site? Apartments? Movie Theater? Retail? GMAP P*Shark DOB

Right on the corner of a two family house I am selling 365 Gates, and the block of the newly renovated YMCA. The real interest here should be the vacant massive brownstone directly across Bedford and the huge lot behind that.

I wish they could put some sort of decent retail...such as a decent supermarket..not bravo...associated....met.....or a theatre...but not enough space for those two I am guessing. Oh i got it. How about a nice duane reade or rite aid or walgreens.yeah thats it......or a barnes and nobles...yeah..multi-leveled. yes.....either one will suit me just fine.
