if kensington was able to band together to improve the quality of foodtown, we should be able to do the same here in park slope about that darn key food on 7th avenue.
anyone feelin it?

I agree, slopehead. I've always been kind of shocked at how grungy and mediocre the supermarkets in Park Slope were, for what kind of community it is.

i think it might just be a matter of enough people making a stink about it. i mean, the one down on 5th and st. mark's is worlds better than the one on 7th.
i'm guessing that some grocery stores are afraid of competition from the co-op but not all of us belong to the co-op.
for such a health conscious, foodie sortof neighborhood, i agree that it's shocking at what little we have to choose from in terms of grocery stores in park slope.
although i've been trying, it seems that with the new trader joe's up at atlantic and court that it might be unlikely to get another here, so we might as well work to improve what we've got.
it's especially bad if you're in the north slope in winter when there's no grand army plaza grrenmarket produce to be had.

It didn't help that Gristedes closed on 7'th Ave either

Think I'll make the trip for the free Martini to Brooks Valley tomorrow, can I get some company. How is the parking?

I though the guinea fowl were concentrated in Bensonhurst.
Next thing you know, pleople will be yelling about all the black ducks in the southern half of the park, leaving all those chicken bones...

Yes, think I will venture over to Brooks Valley also. Like any other neighborhood, parking can be challenging but you will find a spot.

did anyone else read the gentrification article on GP/WB. somehow found it disturbing, like reading about one of those science things where there is an imbalance in the eco-system that leads to destruction. maybe WB is in for some serious troubles. very disturbing and sad.
