Movies with a View
Tonight, Thursday, July 12, Movies with a View presents the sci-fi classic The Day The Earth Stood Still. The outdoor film series features free valet bike parking, a pre-film DJ set, and a selected short film by local filmmakers. In its eighth season, Movies With a View is made possible by the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, and the Natural Heritage Trust. Thursday. 6:00 p.m. Film starts at sundown. Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of the Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Celebrate Brooklyn: Noche Flamenca
Celebrate Brooklyn presents the internationally acclaimed Madrid dance troupe Noche Flamenca. They are joined by Andrew J. Nemr & CPD Plus and Darrah Carr Dance. Thursday. 7:30 p.m. $3 suggested donation. Prospect Park Bandshell; enter at Ninth Street and Prospect Park West. (718) 855-7882.

Fireside Feast
Join Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum and historical interpreter Carolina Capehart for an evening of fireside cooking, early 1800s-style. The evening will focus on Pound Cake 'n Petticoat Tails, featuring a Wyckoff family recipe. Thursday. 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Free. 5816 Clarendon Road. (718) 629-5400.

Full disclosure isn't the first event listed promoted by a paid advertiser on this site? Seems inocuous enough, but shouldn't this be mentioned? It's a slippery slope.

is anyone else incredibly bored with these old black and white movies? Why don't they show us something decent

If you want what you call "decent" movies, just call Netflix. There's a huge audience for the classics on a big screen.

I saw 'the Warriors' in the park last year... I forgot how good that movie was!

I heard West Side Story is playing this summer...can't wait!
