Photo Contest Results: Mill Basin Mess
While the response to our photo contest was underwhelming (perhaps it takes more than a measly $250 to get this crowd out of bed) we did get one good shot out of it. Here's what the photographer told us about this shot:
The combination of money and relatively obscurity makes things especially weird in a place like Mill Basin, where this photo was taken. While I couldn't get too good a look at the mega-manse being built here, the sloppiness of the site would have been remarkable anywhere, let alone a mostly well-scrubbed— if increasingly gaud—'hood like Mill Basin. The fencing consists of broken particle board with numerous rusty nails exposed; the hinge on the gate was this crazy, bent-out metal thing, like a custom duct work shop's worst nightmare.
