What Events Would You Like to Hear About?
We're going to start doing the blogwrap that used to run on Brooklyn Record at the end of the day on Brownstoner since that was the item that people said they would miss the most. We're curious to know whether readers would like to see some version of the Daily Events post on Brownstoner too. Please take a minute and answer the two-question survey on the link to give us your input. Thanks a lot.

what happened to that 'virgin mobile' post that appeared last night and was gone this morning?

We slept on it and realized that we had no way of knowing if the request was really from the company or just someone faking it so we pulled it.

I understand your decision to shut down the Brooklyn Record. Better to do fewer things well. One point if you don't mind. Can you put up the links page? I found it useful to see all of the links to the other blogs on Brooklyn neighborhoods as well as Brookly publications. Just a thought.

I hope that you won't start posting about children's events. Best to keep this site in the adult world, if possible.

I would personally like to see more info on this site for homeowners; insight in how to pick a good contractor; when to know if old plumbing should be replaced; how you balance the line of wanting “period correct” renovations with also making them updated. The site now seems geared towards real estate investments and up and coming neighborhoods; which is fine, just not that helpful for homeowners.

I think it makes perfect sense to list events of note, but you need the blog to retain a certain focus, no? Community board meetings, anything about real-estate, zoning, neighborhood improvements, even restaurants and festivals are all relevant. I suppose rock concerts and kids events might begin to stray a little off-topic, but, then, those things are going to be on the minds of the webmaster and a lot of his readers, too, so maybe?

If you could have a section for restaurants that would be great.

Yes, a section for restaurants. Bring back the food round up. That was a great resource.

If you tried to keep on top of every Brownstone Brooklyn cultural event, you could get overwhelmed with it, but you might highlight a few things which you think would appeal to this crowd. For example, there are so many free (and not free) outdoor summer events that might be nice to highlight. You might even do a little feature, like your open house picks on a Friday, like a "weekend happenings picks" or however you want to name it which become something that people look for.
I also would find it very helpful if you could highlight any kind of talks, shows, conferences, courses, freebies on brownstone maintenance and renovation as well.
Thanks Mr. B.

brownstoner, glad you're concentrating on the brownstoner site; a few tossable content ideas:
- what happend to 'ask the architect'?: maybe that can turn into a daily or weekly, ask the contractor, expediter, restoration specialist, historian, etc...
- feature home renovation classes, eg. at home depot, or real estate and construction related continuing ed. classes at pratt, parsons, idc in downtown brooklyn, nyu, etc.
- same as above but for lectures/ exhibitions. a lot of the architecture schools have great local and internation architects lecture throughout the year, eg. columbia, nyu, pratt, city college, parsons, njit..

If you could direct me to where Anonymous at 11:11 PM is going to be, I'd like to follow him around with my kids so we can annoy him.
