Waldorf School Bound for Clinton Hill

67CliftonPlace.jpg
After an exhaustive search that led it as far afield as Victorian Flatbush, The Brooklyn Waldorf School has found a new home for its ever-growing start-up school on the eastern edge of Clinton Hill. The school, which will be adding a second grade to keep up with the evolution of its current first grade, will be moving from its current location on St. Felix Street in Fort Greene to a brick four-family building at 67 Clifton Place. We don't know how many floors of the building the school will occupy but we do know that it will have use of the backyard as a playground area. Renovation work is expected to start shortly and be completed in time for the new school year in September. This should only increase the traffic and demand for services (and the stroller traffic) in the burgeoning area of upper Grand Avenue, we'd think. GMAP

2.5 months to transform a four-family building in code-compliant 'school building'?

Dream On!!

It may only be a floor or two...we're still trying to find out. If it's just sheet rock and a couple new bathrooms, that should be possible.

The garage next door has been sold and I'm sure it will be torn down to make...something. anybody know?

nope. when we first heard about Waldorf coming to the block we thought the school had bought the garage but then we realized they'd need millions of dollars to build there.

I thought this place looked familiar. I used to live across the street. I remember this part of the block ALWAYS reeked of pot. Should be great for the kiddies..

I've lived near the corner of Clifton and Grand for about 4 years, the transformation that has occurred just in this time span has been incredible (and I know the change started before I even got here).

With the close of the bodega where the dealers hung out, it's finally turned a new leaf and cleaned up.
