Development Watch: Hello Living Spawn Growing Up
With the first two of the Hello Living buildings on the market (and selling well), we thought it was time to check in with a couple more in the pipeline. At top, 904 Pacific Street is a 7-story, 21-unit building across the street from the two that are almost complete; the 32,671-square-foot building (rendered at right) is closer to the Washington Avenue end of the block. At bottom, 957 Pacific is toward the Classon end of the block. Interestingly, the 5-story, 18-unit building was originally going to be done by Scarano, but developer Eli Karp apparently dumped him back in the Spring of 2005 and ended up going with Loadingdock5 instead. Bet Karp's psyched not to have mezzanine gate hanging over him now. The 27,168-square-foot structure will also have 9 parking spaces.

it should be intersting to see how the one near classon sells. washington is so much better.

As I said before I wouldn't want to live there on Halloween. They look so exposed and vulnerable with all that glass. I live in PH and over the years we have had a few bricks tossed through our windows.

These are quite hideous looking with the stucco finish.

I think they look great. My guess is there won't be a significant difference in sales pace or price between the ones closer to washington versus the ones closer to classon. The block they are on is nice regardless and there's really no reason to venture too far in the classon direction. It's also quieter as you go away from Washington.

We should not forget that tragedy - two young mothers and two young children. Not only 1033 Pacific, but others as well, and there was a lot of increased public awareness of the 'arson precedes development' paradigm. See NY mag article.

Heller fellow brownstoner readers. Yesterday I inquired into remaining availability at Hello Brooklyn. My call was fielded by a salesperson from Aguayo & Huebener named Rick Staula. He offered me very inaccurate information regarding this development and told that there were no mortgage contingencies offered at this property. Given the current state of the mortgage industry I found that rather odd. After calling back anonymously and realizing that Rick was completely wrong despite insisting so I asked to be reassigned to a different broker and sure enough I was shown an apt this morning which I have now put in an offer on. It was to my complete disbelief that I received a message this afternoon on my Blackberry from my receptionist letting me know that a man named Rick Staula had called and asked for me and when he was told I was unavailable he proceded to berate my employee and told her to tell me that I am a 'Jerk'. This was by far the most distasteful interaction I have ever had with a real estate salesperson and I would urge anybody thinking about doing any business with Aguayo & Huebener to think twice given the fact that they have such a rude and incompetant person on their staff. It's one thing to call me a jerk. It's another to call my place of employment and say such a thing. I am considering reporting this salesperson to the NY State Licensing Bureau. He does not deserve to have a license and certainly he should not be an agent in as open a community as Park Slope is. I have lived in the neighborhood for my life and will see to it that this man pays for his actions.
