Thai Food for Vacant Fort Greene Corner?

120Lafayette052007.jpg
We'd just been wondering about this empty storefront at the corner of Lafayette and Cumberland in Fort Greene when we got an email from somebody in the neighborhood who'd been doing some nosing around. Having heard rumors that this was going to be a Thai restaurant, he tried asking the owner, only to be rebuffed. Could it be that everything's not being done on the up-and-up with the Landmarks Preservation Commission? Are those new doorways being cut through the wall? Can anyone confirm the Thai rumor? I heard today that it is going to be a Thai place owned by the same people who operate Thai 101 on Myrtle.

I heard the same rumor, third hand- allegedly from Java Dave next door.

That really sucks...I'm so sick of Thai restaurants. How disappointing.

guaranteed: this will not be an authentic thai place on the level of sripraphai or lotus of siam.

Don asked the person working there what it was going to be and he was told a "strip club" and then "none of your business". Guess that they don't understand their customer base.

there was an eviction notice on the side door the other day asking someone to vacate the premises.

THe owner of thart building is an old timer who really has no ability to understand the new neighb. His dry cleaner services sucked as well. They are just thinking they are ahead of the game. Months back they were going to do a 7-11. They belong on I-95. Java Dave is their relative.
