Development Watch: 525 Union Avenue

Get ready for Karl Fischer to squeeze out another puppy in Williamsburg, this one a bong's throw from the BQE on Union Avenue. The five-story building will have 42 residential units for a total of about 65,000 square feet. We weren't able to dig any renderings up on the architect's website. Anyone seen or heard anything? Oh great, another mundane building for Wburg. Too bad the trust-fund hipsters don't seem to have much of an interest in good and sustainable design.

what dingbat thinks hipsters have trust funds? You are conflating two different groups. And anyway - the hipsters are designing the buildings!? Are you drunk?

the ones designing the buildings are drunk

All the photo shows is a bunch of girders. How could anyone possibly dismiss the architecture so early on, especially in the absence of renderings?

Rentals or condos?
I really wanted to weigh in on the (deserved) hipster bashing, but held my tongue.

I'm an neither a dingbat nor am I drunk. While I rarely use the word 'conflate' and especially not 'conflating', I would respectfully disagree and counter that the two groups conflated themselves long ago. Hipsters as a poor artist species are dead, you dingbat.

I'm surprised this is residential as it's being built almost right on top of the Catholic school behind it. I had thought it was an addition to the school. Also, time to get over the hipster bashing. They're not the ones building the glass-eyesores that abound in the burg, and whatever you may think about trustfunders, I haven't seen too many ratty-looking kids who reside in these new buildings.

Yeah I blame the hipsters more for the rising rent than these condos. That said, I will continue to bash both hipsters and trustfund babies (quite often, one and the same).

Hipsters and hasids and butt ugly buildings
Fedders so heinous no matter the gilding
Tattoos on rock kids with tight skinny jeans
These are what make up the Billyburg scene
Sweet mother of god do I have too much time on my hands. Sorry--it just belched out.
But by the way, I think hipsters are adorable and funny to look at--they add texture to the room. Where's a hipster to go now that the east village is Starbucksberg?

Ha, bongs through, classic...

the rendering was on the old KFA site, it kind of looks like an industrial/warehouse type building with a yellowish/brown brick facade
