Development Watch: 136 St. Marks Place

136 St. Marks
Compared to some other neighborhoods like Williamsburg and Dumbo, Scarano Architects hasn't made much of mark on the North Slope, probably because much of it is landmarked. The controversial firm has at least one project in construction in the area now. This new five-story building at 136 St. Marks Place will have 10,777 square feet spread over nine units. It's hard to tell, but it doesn't look like there could be any mezzanines in this one. Any other Scarano projects in the immediate area right now? GMAP P*Shark DOB

Has anyone seen these inside? I had heard that they were already being offered for sale, but haven't seen them advertised anywhere.

the building's interior (renderings) are on the scarano site under multifamily, scroll down a bit in there and you'll see a thumbnail with square design things on the facade which when rolled over shows up at "saint marks place" on the right

What's the deal with those two wedge-shaped forms poking out of the front, there? Decoration? I actually like the apperaance of some of these Scarano buildings (in pictures, I should hasten to add--haven't actually studied any in person) and this one looks kinda nice to me. Kinda.
