The Brooklyn Heights studio seems like a good deal: low maintenance with 24 hr. doorman in a good neighborhood. 600 square feet is not a lot of space but with an alcove, it's pretty much like a one bedroom (might even seem bigger with good furniture arrangement).

I'm with Emily.
There are several other units for sale in the building and they all seem really reasonable (dare I say almost bargain priced?). The apartments themselves are kinda bland and a little blah, but a few have fairly spectacular views of lower Manhattan.
The common charges also include all utilities!
Anyone have the lowdown the why the units in building seem so...well, cheap for Brooklyn Heights?

I think the Brooklyn College area townhouse looks really nice and selling for way less than I would have guessed. It seems there are still moderately priced places around.

is 75 Henry the former Mitchell Lama building on Cadman Plaza?

There are still bargains to be had in the Brooklyn College neighborhood. It has some quality of life issues, but it's certainly up and coming. The Brooklyn College campus is charming in areas, with lots of green space, and the new Target/Barnes and Noble will be in easy walking distance. Also Hudde MS and Midwood HS are here. I'm not sure how the elementary schools are here, though. Midwood Montessori is a great pre-school, on the same street at this house, I believe. This is an excellent neighborhood for families... get in while it's still reaonable!

Is that MKG? If so, good information, it's helpful, but it's more ethical to sign one's name as a realtor when one is a realtor specializing in a certain area and has vested interest in how that neighborhood is perceived. Or....in how competing neighborhoods are perceived, too. I often wonder if many times the trolls that bash certain buildings or neighborhoods regularly, aren't developers and agents in competing buildings and nabes.

I am the 11:16 poster. I am most certainly not MKG. Nor am I a developer or a relator. I doesn't bother me that you thought I might be a realtor, and wanted to suggest it on this forum - but very unfair of you to pin it on MKG specifically. Especially as you were way off the mark.

You know the old saying...when you assume you make an ass of yourself. You didn't sign your name. How do we know you aren't a competitor of Mary Kay....lmao

Like, I said, I'm not a realtor or a developer. Have no connection to the industry whatsoever.

Erin....my 6:45 pm comment was directed toward anon 1:48 not toward you.

Sorry!

1:48 here, and I'm not a competitor of MKG nor a realtor of any kind. I just happened to notice she repped the house that sold in the Brooklyn College area, also that area is one of her specialties, also she HAS posted on this site in the past, also the sentence "This is an excellent neighborhood for families... get in while it's still reaonable!" sounds so much like a realtor that if it isn't one I'll eat my shoe. As for being Anonymous on this site, has anyone noticed how nasty it gets here? I'd never sign my name.

Oh but I should add in the midst of all this I'm not bashing the neighborhood of Brooklyn College; quite the contrary I think everything from the Park on down through PLG and Victorian Flatbush and Ditmas and all is a good buy.

I generally don't sign my name, for that very reason, 9:58. But you better like the taste of shoe leather. Although I am involved in the campaign to landmark Victorian Flatbush, I really am not a realtor or a developer. Run a check if you don't believe me! I just honestly think that Brooklyn College is a good bet for young families. And judging how prices have soard in other parts of the neighborhood over the years, bargains won't last too much longer.

Well okay, you're not a realtor, 10:27, but you are as you admit someone involved with promoting the neighborhood. So I was not way off. So I still won't eat my shoe. Not yet. Sorry. That said, good for you for promoting your neighborhood and being proud of it.

Also, I apologize Erin if I sounded hostile! What a strange exchange. This site does that to me sometimes. I'm going to wrench myself away to rejoin my husband and watch a movie on the telly. Goodnight.
