House of the Day: 394 Monroe
This house at 394 Monroe Street in Bed Stuy is quite handsome on the outside. It's a Century 21 listing but we were unable to find it on the firm's website so we don't know the asking price or the condition of the interior. Turns out, though, that the property changed hands as recently as last April for $775,000. GMAP P*Shark

Otherwise known as formstone, that "faux Brick" facing is quite popular in Baltimore but you don't see it as much around here. I've always sort of liked the look of it, and think that the green trim on that house is a great complement.

it's the green then? and all of the details? cuz normally--meaning when i'm in bushwick--i don't like this style.

Century 21 often doesn't advertise prices even if it were on their website, oh and it may be there, it's just impossible to find because it's the worst website in real estate history!

saw this house last week, its on at 850,000, its ok condition, has 4 tenants but they agent said would be delivered vacant, the layout was a litttle strange to me though.. also the block, monroe between thompkins and throop, i felt left something to be desired..
quite a lot of new build on the other side of the street....also nearly 10 blocks too the c train, miles from the a train.. just seems overpriced to me

bear in mind, theres a beautiful house in contract with foxtons, for $830,000, 4 blocks from the A on Jefferson between Thompkins and Hancock..I'd take that house any day over the Monroe one

I like the brick with the green too. It resembles old stone houses, somehow. And I love the stone houses in Bucks County, so this aesthetic appeals to me. Nice color green too. It would be cool if more people got more daring with the paint color for the exterior doors and trim. But not the pepto bismal pink please! Pink is the one color I hate on a house. The second ugliest color on a house is that fluorescent green siding you used to see on shabby little rural houses in the Midwest.

I hate those "garden face brick face and stucco homes". I remember the commercials when I was younger. It seems like every neighbor hood has one or two. yuk!
