For Sale By Owner on Tillary
We noticed last weekend that 156 Tillary Street aka 129 Flatbush Avenue Extension is up for sale. While someone mucked up the street-level at some point, the old brick building has those great iron stars on its facade that suggest that it is quite a bit older than the date of 1900 that Property Shark lists. We'd guess more like the 1860s. Unfortunately, given the building boom in this area, we're afraid that this may get torn down, especially when you consider that the 17,600-square-foot building has 41,000 square feet of unused FAR. No idea what the price is but the owner can be contacted at 212-750-0111. GMAP P*Shark

I believe the iron stars are the decorative end to beam ties, installed to keep beams from pulling through the brickwork.

Propert Shark usually puts "1900" because the actual construction dates of many buildings are unknown. the Department of Buildings had a petty bad fire (Twice!) in the early 20th century so a lot of stuff was lost.
