Development Watch: 375-377 Baltic Street

There's some bad karma at this development site at 375-377 Baltic Street. A few years ago, work was halted on the property when the contractor undermined the foundation of the neighboring building, which subsequently had to be torn down and (unfortunately) replaced by the Fedders special you see there now. (We just love how it juts out several feet beyond the other facades, don't you?) The current owner, Yangtze Realty, is building 4 stories plus an attic on each lot for a total of 12 units. Any reason to think this will be anything better than your run-of-the-mill schieze? GMAP DOB

When this and 381 Baltic ( the lottery house 2 doors east) are finished this will the strangest mix of facades.
2 doors to west is old kinda cute 3 story not quite a row house because of door entrance in middle, then the Fedders condo, then these. Next on right is retro-tenement built few years ago, then the 381.
Neither facades nor building lines match.
But at least won't be dumping ground any longer.

The buildings that developers build all the way to the allowed edge of the sidewalk are terrible. We looked at a condo in one such building and we could see people passing mere inches away from the windows. No sense of privacy. And noise from cars and people talking as they pass, forget it.
