Best Latin American Eats in Brooklyn?

This cold weather already has us longing for the springtime opening of the Mexican, Central American, South American and Caribbean food stalls at the Red Hook ball fields. It's gonna be a while before we can eat an ear of corn fresh off the grill or snack on ceviche at a sunny picnic table, but in the meantime, where can we get something to hold us over? We've heard great things about Tacos Matamoros (4503 5th Avenue in Sunset Park) is it all it's cracked up to be? And has anyone been to Honduras Maya (587 Fifth Ave between Prospect Ave and 16th St. in Park Slope), the restaurant run by the woman who makes the Ball Fields baleadas? If you've got other recommendations, please share in the comments.

Beso in Park Slope...I know some people aren't impressed with it, but I can't get enough of it!

Beso? Are you kidding? That over-priced brunch place?

Matamoros in Sunset Park is great (although a bit rocky on ambiance for sit-down),but the real treat at Matamoros is to wait for a beautiful evening, grab a bag of ridiculously cheap fresh tacos and a huge refreshing horchata, and walk a few blocks up to Sunset Park, then eat the feast on the hillside facing the heart-stopping view of the harbor as the sun goes down. (So THAT's why they call it 'Sunset Park'!!)

I live in SP. The best flautas (and not a bad burrito) are to be had at Ricos Tacos, on 51st (I think) and 5th Avenue. Ordering can be difficult but the food is delish. The best, best enchiladas ever are at Tequilitas on 4th Ave and 53rd Street. And it's a nice place to sit down, listen to the tunes and feel like you're in D.F.

Tacos Nuevo Mexico on 5th Ave. and 13th St. is my go-to spot for delicious, dirt cheap tacos.
