BBQ Rattlesnake Salad and Turtle Soup

We've heard some great things about the Wild Game Festival at Henry's End — a special menu of weird animal meats, ranging from rattlesnake to ostrich to kangaroo to elk — but we've never worked up the nerve to actually try it. (It's not so much that we're afraid of, say, Buffalo Rib Eye with Roasted Corn Sauce, but we're afraid of spending $33.50 on an entree that might be too gamey to really enjoy.) But this wild menu is only served from October through February, so if we're going to try it, we've got to act soon. According to local blogger 53 Boerum, "Henry’s End also has great southern fried chicken, a wide selection of veal dishes, superb seafood, and an array of duck dishes... Sorry Noodle Pudding, we have a new favorite spot in the Heights!" So, is Henry's End as good as it's cracked up to be — and is it better than Noodle Pudding? And if we go, what should we order?

i love henry's end - my mom works near by and we've been going there for birthdays and special occasions for years (just fill out a card that comes with your bill and they send you a birthday card offering a free entree)! the fried chicken is very good, and i'm a big fan of their shrimp appetizers as a main course. my dad loves their cassoulet during that's usually offered during their wild game festival.

the wine list is great, and they always have great picks by the glass, and i love their desserts: the creme brulee napoleon and mrs. mud pie are great!

Henry's End and Noodle Pudding are the only two stand out dining options in the Heights. I'd hate to pick one over the other because they each do their own thing really well.

I've never understood why Brooklyn Heights can't support more great restaurants. It's really frustrating, especially when friends in Williamsburg, Carroll Gardens, etc. have so many great options. I wonder what it is? High rents on Montague Street? Non-discerning palates of the residents? What is it? Any thoughts?

Wow, I haven't been there in years! I used to go there fairly often (meaning maybe 4 times a year -- it was expensive even then and I was poor!) when I lived in the Heights in the late 1980's. Thanks for reminding me I've got to go back!

If anyone needs another restaurant to critique, Theresas's on Montague Street is fantastic!!! been goin there my entire life - excellent polish cuisine...their cheese blintzes are to die for..

My favorite restaurant in Brooklyn. Wild game fest is no joke -- Ireally enjoyed the black bear I had there last year.

Buffalo steak is definitely NOT too gamey to enjoy, but if you need a standby there and are too chicken to try some wild game action, I'd recommend the duck.

Henry's End is one of the best restaurants in the world and has been for decades. Love the waiters, especially that blonde chick, what's her name? So knowledgeable and friendly and knows her stuff cold.

The game fest is fabulous and there's plenty else that rocks.

Plus, fabulous wines by the glass.

You aren't a real Brownstoner until you've celebrated something at Henry's End.

Now I'm feeling all nostaligic for my 30s!
