Wolcott Asking Prices Top $1 Million
A reader tipped us off that the pair of houses on Wolcott Street that we love to hate are listed with Brooklyn Heights Real Estate. He also notes that the asking price has risen as they've sat on the market to $1.04 million. What a joke! And the language with which the agent tries to pump-and-dump these puppies is hilarious: "These luxury town houses are of top quality construction with special attention to the finished details," reads the ad. You know what would be really cool? If the brokerage community started refusing to take listings of this crap. Maybe that would act as a deterrent to the craptacular developers.

The desciption is hilarious, although they should have focused on the workman-crafted state of the art Fedders climate system that makes up the building’s visually captivating exterior.

Did you see the picture of the broker? GROSS... hey sweetheart if you sell these to a scuker you could afford that 3rd face lift you've been saving up for.

Guys, there is no need to make unkind remarks about the broker's appearance--anybody on the planet would look attractive next to a photo of these architectural wonders. I only wish there were some interior pictures to savor as well. (Er, of the houses, I mean). Is it true that these places are being advertised through multiple brokers? How is that possible?

The listing state these "luxury townhouses" (plural). SO perhaps the price is for both. Still not worth it.

Who ever made that comment about the broker...NOT NEEDED!

Go get 'em, Jonny-boy! Yeah!

"Is it true that these places are being advertised through multiple brokers?"
Its called an "Open Listing". The seller has no agreemen with any particular broker. Most good agencies won't do it. Plus, the seller gets next to no marketing of his/her property beyond daily posts on craigslist and crappy website photos. They, the sellers, think they save money but very few qualified buyers see them and very few brokers show them because of the ridiculously low commissions (usually 2 or 3 percent)

Well, the broker is ugly. Being ugly is not a crime, but someone that ugly should have more sense than to have her photograph on a website.

The broker certainly isn't ugly! She just looks kind of drunk in that picture. Anyway, I'd like to see pictures of you. I bet you're really something to look at, huh? RE: the house, outside is typical new construction, but without seeing the interior, I can't comment.

Hmmm...over a million for one of those shitty ass, no regard to quality, eyesore buildings? Sounds reasonable to me. Please. If sold individually, the price SHOULD be about $700, maybe a tad less. The owners are smokin' some crack.

They look directly across Wolcott St. at the Red Hook Houses projects, home of booming drug trade that the cops raid and bust every few years.
"The details, according to Ariella Cohen in the Brooklyn Papers, are as follows: 9,234 vials of crack, 3,135 dime bags of heroin, 1,755 bags of marijuana and 400 grams of powder cocaine sold every day. Repeat: Every day."
"That translates into $154,150 in transactions every day, or more than $50 million every year."

Yep. Guess that means it's time to raise the price on these.
