Wednesday Food and Drink Round-Up

Burger 67

Brooklynian users are stoked on Burger 67 (or is it 67 Burger?), which reportedly dishes up perfectly cooked-to-order burgers:

"Props to the owner for appreciating a good rare or medium rare burger. He gave me the thumbs up when I ordered mine medium rare, saying that he spends a lot of money to get good quality meat, which is better appreciated if only lightly cooked, at least according to him. [...]The burger was good, although I got the Parisian before realizing I don't like mustard on my burgers. The blue cheese burger was also excellent. Unfortunately, the sweet potato fries were subpar. But I'd go back."

Some folks have found the place closed on multiple visits, and word is it can be crowded and loud when it is open. Anyone tried it yet? We're curious about the non-meat offerings, too--for a burger joint, B67 has a large number of sandwiches and salads on the menu. "In October, the restaurant named as its chef Jason Neroni, who cooked at 71 Clinton Fresh Food before it closed. His food there was often excellent, and he’s clearly a very talented man. At Porchetta, though, I got the impression that he hadn’t yet worked out the kinks in the kitchen--the thick slices of turkey in an entrée special were close to raw in the middle--or figured out what was strongest and weakest on a menu that will surely continue to evolve." Bonita

"Unlike the original location, which only serves beer and wine, this one's got a full bar. Service was a little spotty, but we're happy to report that our favorite dish--the steak tacos (though we must admit the fish tacos come in a close second for us)--was blissfully unchanged. The meat was tender and not overcooked (though not undercooked either!), and the three small tacos came with the simple adornments of onion, radish, and lime. The perfect meal, really. If only we had ended our evening then.

Taro Sushi

"Thanks to Park Slope's Taro, locals don't have to leave Kings County for classic Japanese sushi. The place is low-key, but the fish is highest-grade. And moderate checks make it a real Brooklyn bargain." [amNY]

Do you agree with amNY's Brooklyn sushi picks (the other is Kotobuki Bistro in C-Gardens)? Or are there better spots in your 'hood? Great sushi is one foodstuff we have a hard time finding in the borough, but we're sure we've had better than Kotobuki. -Ed.
