Walentas Longs for the Days of Beer and Chicks
The Real Deal has a fun interview with Dumbo kingpin David Walentas this month. One quote put the neighborhood's arc in perspective: "We bought 2 million square feet from Harry Helmsley for $12 million. We are going to sell one apartment in the Clock Tower [Building] probably for twice that." Another puts his gazillions of dollars in perspective: "I was happy when I was poor and hitchhiking, drinking beer and chasing girls." Weren't we all, Dave. Weren't we all.

his son was a few years ahead of me at penn law. i wish he was in my class and we were friends; working for them has to be a lot more fun than papering private banking deals.
