Downtown Art Deco Icon Going Condo

Long considered one of the finest examples of Art Deco architecture in Brooklyn, the former New York Telephone Company Building at 101 Willoughby Street is in the process of being converted to condos. Sales will start this week with a projected move-in date of sometime next Spring. When all's said and done, the 27-story building, henceforth known as the BellTell Lofts, will contain 219 apartments priced from $500,000 to $2 million. Beyer Blinder Belle designed the interior conversion, which is characterized by ceilings 11-foot ceilings, bamboo floors, open kitchens and large windows. There will also be ground-floor retail spaces and what should be a kick-ass view from the 19th floor roof decks. Who's got the cash cow listing?

There's 1 good thing about the location, if you happen to be Catholic: around the corner is the wonderful little Oratory Church of St. Boniface, which has great music and attracts a non-geographically defined "parish of intention" from all over the tristate area...so condo-buyers are conveniently situated to save their souls!

I am a share holder in belltel lofts. I was must comment RC Dolner has done a wonderful job constructing such as difficult landmark. The layout is excellent and the quality of work is by far better that other i came across. The only issue i have is that the sales agents don't have any idea what their doing which is a big turn off.
