Light & Air On Kent (But for How Long?)
This conversion on the corner of Kent and North 1st in Williamsburg looks like it'll win points in the window and ceiling departments. The big question will be whether there's gonna be a hulking tower that gets plunked down between it and the waterfront at some point. Does anyone know anything about this project? GMAP

There is a Scarano application under audit attached to this property. It looks an awful lot like a residential building application, but the current zoning doesn't allow for one. Maybe that explains the audit here.

permits not clearly visible is not kosher. One could call that in, if one were so inclined.

Isn't this one of Gutman's projects?
Its zoned for manufacturing, which - if it is Gutman - means nothing (look at all his "commercial" properties in Dumbo). Hotels are often used as place holders or trojan horses for residential development.

And since there's a "temporary" gas turbine power plant and some sort of an electrical substation between this site and the water, I suspect the views are pretty well protected! Not sure how many hotel guests will want to stay there, but I suppose it worked in Gowanus.
