I love the phrase in the "Crime Spikes in Clinton Hill" article that says an open are drug market "cropped up", as if it wasn't there for the past 25 years. The difference is that the police are doing something about it finally, thankfully.

I was about to comment on the same thing. That corner has been notorious forever. There was a similar shooting when I lived there in 2000, followed by a similar police presence (which clearly faded until this most recent incident). Sigh.

i noticed a beat cop on my corner (clifton/classon) last night, well into the night. we'll see how long it last.
